The Rushbrooke Symposium

A five-day field course for those serious about deer, habitat, and wild venison

Led by Sam Thompson and Matt Moss, this hands-on programme will take place on the Kildermorie estate, SCOTLAND.

It aims to bring together a small group of like-minded individuals to share knowledge, refine their approach, and improve practical skills in modern deer management.

From habitat assessment and drone-supported population counts to rifle setup, cull planning, and carcass handling, each day is built around real-world application and professional insight.

  • Open to all levels of experience, the Symposium is a focused, immersive, field-based programme covering the key aspects of modern deer management.

    Across five days, participants will take part in guided sessions exploring habitat, deer populations, equipment, marksmanship, culling, and carcass processing - designed to deepen understanding and sharpen practical ability.

    With guest instructors specialising in each area, we’re working to make this event the best it can be on every level.

    Expect a mix of outdoor work, group discussion, and hands-on demonstrations - led by experienced professionals, with an emphasis on going beyond best practice, not just ticking boxes.
